The only way I can really explain PUBG is both terrifying and exhilarating.
Finally after months of anticipation, the record-breaking PC phenomenon has now landed on consoles - exclusively on Xbox One. Developed and published by Bluehole Studios, Player Unknown's Battlegrounds tasks you with looting what you need to battle ninety-nine other players and bring home that Chicken Dinner.
No storyline on this one, but we've placed 8.5/10 to justify the game's score as a whole.
The only way I can really explain the gameplay is both terrifying and exhilarating. Never have I had my heart pounding from any game than when I was in the top 5 of a match of PUBG.
To say that Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) has some innovative gameplay would be the understatement of the year. The controls alone put most modern shooters to shame with the amount of work that has gone into giving the player full control of every weapon, attachment, healing item, and perspective they wish to implement in order to devise a tactical plan to get themselves a tasty chicken dinner.
Although the game gives you a plethora of tools to set a plan and defeat your opponents, you must keep in mind that every game is different. From the path of your ejection from the plane to where the foreboding circle has decided to place itself, nothing about PUBG is ever simple or identical which really makes the player think on their toes and follow their instincts so that they don't just become another number on someone else's kill count.
Now I'm not going to say that this is a gorgeous game by any means. The best example I can give you is that graphically PUBG is like cutting fabric with a pair of children's craft scissors; sure it will get the job done but by no means will it look pretty.
With that being said about the world itself, the game is the complete opposite when it comes to the art and design of the guns, ammunition, and clothing. Almost photorealistic in all areas (except the maps themselves) PUBG has shown that it is ahead of the all the competition in the bland shooter genre.
In a game where you routinely find yourself running through varying environments, it would be detrimental to your survival rate if you were to say that audio makes no difference. The thing that makes PUBG so refreshing and unique is the meticulous attention that has been paid to the audio.
From the smallest detail, like how all of the cars sound like they're about to break down at any time, to no matter where you are, you can hear and estimate the direction of any gunshot because of the direction audio system in the game. Bluehole Studios has made it so that no matter what your plan is, you will always be able to hear your impending doom.
From the outside looking in, PUBG is graphically flawed, overcomplicated, and at times choppy, which makes you wonder why so many people play it. But damn it! it's the most fun I've had in quite some time.
This game will make you laugh, scream, cry and leave you with so much anxiety and euphoria that you will think you've just lived a classic thriller. PUBG is truly something that anyone with an Xbox One or PC should experience.
